The Suns were one of two franchises to join the NBA at the start of the 1968–69 season, alongside the Milwaukee Bucks. They were the first major professional sports franchise in the state of Arizona, and would be the only one for twenty years until the Cardinals of the National Football League relocated from St. Louis in 1988. The early years were difficult for the Suns. Goodrich and Van Arsdale lead them early. New ownership helped bring the turmoil of this period to a close and lead the Suns in a new direction. The end of the 80′s and early 90′s the team play good ball but never advanced deep into the playoffs. K.J Kevin Johnson, Chambers, Nance , Marjerle had good career years with them. Mid 90′s brought Sir Charles Barkley from the 76ers with Finley and Kidd in 96 the team drafted a young Steve Nash to back up pg Kidd, trading Nash later to Dallas. Marburg, Hardaway spent time in the early 00 to keep a winning team on the court. In 02 the team drafted a young Amare Stoudemire out of high school. Through the 05 season to present Steve Nash returned to lead the team in a high up tempos quick moving team. Look for many new changes and faces on the present team. They will play hard aggressive basketball and make another run at a playoff spot.
