Orlando Magic SnapBack Hat Laid To Rest..

Not me any more

Last night was the start of the NBA 2012-2013 basketball season and for me I’ve taken my Orlando Magic snapback hat off and put it on the self.  This doesn’t mean I don’t plan on following the Magic or the NBA this season but it is a sure tell sign that my interest in professional sports is at a all time low.

As I’ve grow older the thrill of watching over paid professional athletes running up and down a court or field chasing different types of balls has lost its glitter.  Even more so with the different leagues, more so the NBA, allowing a few teams, and I say chosen teams, to stock pile what appears to be heavy favored talent to win it all makes watching pro basketball a waste of time for me.  Realize that fact that I was a season ticket holder for 22 years with the Magic, making me old money that bought season tickets through the thin and thick years.  I seen 25 win seasons where I wouldn’t have given up my tickets for the world.  I’ve sat there in winning season and watched playoff series good and bad.

I realize the fact that in the pasted there has been the dominate teams, the Bulls in the 90′s,  the Celtics and Lakers, and more recent the Spurs but for some reason I could live with that.  Why then and not now?

Is the sport over hyped in every way.  Is part of the reason that only certain teams will be televised nationally 30 plus times where others may have 1 opportunity to showcase their talent?  Has the NBA sold out their brand to where I’m just tired of reading, watching, hearing it?

Am I tired of how I  perceive the league handles the so called superstars?  ie calls or lack there of, face time, exposure.  Am I tired of how the teams handles the so called superstars? ie pushing coaches out,  pampering, catering to their every whim.

Has my die hard love for professional sports left me for ever?  Do I just not care any more about grow men or women playing a game, A GAME, and making millions of dollars to do so?  When did my time become more valuable not to spend large amount of money to sit and watch these events?  I miss my Orlando Magic SnapBack Hat and at times the rush I used to get watching professional sports.

I guess professional sports is a young mans game both participating in and watching. The leagues and teams both seem to cater more to them in marketing and advertising.   Funny thing though we all get older,  do we all go through the same I’m over it feeling?  Maybe to different degrees!!!

Hey National Basketball Association don’t toss me out with the trash.  I hope to again wear my Orlando Magic SnapBack Hat .
